New! Stylish Classrooms

I love lofts and climbers in early childhood classrooms. What a fantastic piece of equipment to encourage gross motor development, creative play, and socialization! I love lofts so much that Laurel and I decided to expand our store to include them. We're creating a brand new Stylish Classrooms department. By this time next month, child development programs will be able to purchase all of their supplies and furnishings for their classrooms from Stylish Kids Rooms! I'm bringing my 15 years of experience as a Child Development Specialist to this project to make it the one-stop shop for everything "early childhood"! We can't wait to show it to you, so we've put a few sneak peaks on our site already. Check out the lofts, preschool bookcases, and infant blankets we added today! And visit us again next week for even more.

Cinderella's Pumpkin Carriage has arrived!

One of our favorite pieces of children's furniture at Stylish Kids Rooms is our Pumpkin Crib. That's why we chose it for our front page. Yesterday, we received word from the skilled craftsmen at Corsican that (drum roll, please) now a youth version is available! Introducing Cinderella's Pumpkin Carriage Bed. This elegant hand-forged iron bed can be custom made in twin, queen, and king sizes with birds on the canopy (as shown) or a with a crown.

Animal Prints for Kids Rooms

Laurel and I love animal prints! Zebra, cheetah, giraffe...we love them. They're a hot trend right now, too, so they are EVERYWHERE. Crib bedding, jungle-themed kids' rooms, diaper bags, and clothes are all sporting the latest combinations of colors and patterns from our beloved African creatures. But what happens next year if the home fashion industry's focus moves from animal prints to something else...like plaids and stripes? The short answer: we'll still love animal prints! We'll sell animal prints 'til the cows come home. Promise! Check out our Welcome to the Jungle Collection by Three Little Ziglets, our Zebra Messenger diaper bag by OiOi Baby Bags, or our Femme Bedding Set at Stylish Kids Rooms. They'll knock the plaid right off your knickers!

Behind the Scenes: Laurel Beck Design and Remnant Restoration

Laurel and I are completely immersed in the world of interior design for children. Not only are we adding new items to Stylish Kids Rooms everyday, we officially launched the website for Laurel Beck Design this week! As many of our treasured customers and clients know, we specialize in creating ideal spaces for infants, children, and teens in Colorado Springs. While most retailers are focused on selling during this challenging Christmas season, we're working feverishly on a project through Remnant Restoration, a non-profit ministry of design for widows and orphans that we're scheduled to complete in mid-January. We're designing three bedrooms for 6 children, 4 of whom have just been adopted from Ethiopia...a room for the boys, a room for the girls, and a nursery for twin infants! If you'd like to follow the progress of this project, check us out at the ministry website www.RemnantRestoration.org.

The Psychology of Design

Laurel and I are starting a new series of blog entries we don't want you to miss. As specialists in both child development and interior design, we want to focus for a while on the psychology of design. Creating spaces for children involves so much more than decorating. Every child has unique social, emotional, and physical needs that should be addressed in the design of his or her bedroom or playroom. (or classroom!) Over the next few months, we'll share our knowledge and insights on design psychology. We'll also be interviewing industry experts right here on our blog. We're starting with the nursery!

We're Donating 100% of Our Profits on Friday!

Want to make a difference in the lives of kids? Laurel and I are donating 100% of our profits this Friday to Remnant Restoration to create new bedrooms for recently-adopted children. 100% of our profits from every sale this Friday will go directly to bedroom and playroom makeovers for orphans. The first project we're funding is for a family with 2 children who are adopting 4 children from Ethiopa. We're designing and furnishing three bedrooms for them! And when we're finished with their rooms, we'll create more for other adopted kids. The more we sell on Friday...the more projects we can fund!!

Don't need anything but still want to help? You can donate online at Remnant Restoration http://www.remnantrestoration.org/
